Sebastian Florida Weather & Fishing Report – April 14, 2026 | Indian River Lagoon

Good Morning from Sebastian Florida

Good morning from the dock along the Indian River Lagoon in Sebastian, Florida. Here’s your daily waterfront weather, fishing, and wildlife report for Tuesday April 14, 2026.

A beautiful morning on the dock!  I caught a beautiful sail cat yesterday afternoon.  It fought like a beast.  Good times.  Also saw a momma duck leading all her little hatchings off in the river to some safety.  All those little guys wont make it but a few will.  Nature can be a stone cold killer!

🌤 Waterfront Weather Conditions

Time: 10 AM

Air Temperature: 75°F

Humidity: 59%

Wind Direction & Speed: East at 8-10 MPH

Tide Stage: High at 3:15 PM and Low around 8:30 AM

Water Clarity: Surprisingly clear.  The sand in the water even looks inviting.  I went for a beach walk and found a non native owl on the beach that has washed up!  It's a plastic model to keep birds off docks and boats.

Water Conditions: Wavy and an occasional wave breaking in the lagoon but not bad overall.  Sunny, dry, with a moderate wind compared to the past few weeks.

General Observations:  Sunny, dry, with a moderate wind compared to the past few weeks.

Lagoon Living Tip for the Day:

Rinse outdoor gear to protect your home and landscaping.

Salt and sand from fishing gear, kayaks, and beach equipment can wear down surfaces over time. A simple rinse station or outdoor shower helps protect driveways, docks, and lawns while keeping things cleaner overall.

🎣 Fishing Activity & Wildlife Sightings

I finally caught a mullet for the first time in a while but it looks like something else almost ate it prior to it finding me.  I saw it again today swimming near shore.  I'm guessing those bite marks may be hampering its progress.

🏡 Sebastian & Vero Beach Real Estate Update & Suggestion of The Day

Understand short-term rental rules before you buy.

In many coastal Florida communities, short-term rentals are regulated at the city or county level—and sometimes even by HOAs. Limits on rental frequency, licensing requirements, and zoning restrictions can directly impact your investment strategy.

The real estate market in Sebastian and Vero Beach remains balanced overall. Inventory levels are steady, and well-positioned homes continue to move quickly when priced appropriately.  There is plenty of inventory and only slight price reductions seen in the market.  Days on market is a more traditional 75 than the hyper markets we have had in the past few years.

Sebastian Florida Weather & Fishing Report – April 13, 2026 | Indian River Lagoon

Good Morning from Sebastian Florida

Good morning from the dock along the Indian River Lagoon in Sebastian, Florida. Here’s your daily waterfront weather, fishing, and wildlife report for Monday April 13, 2026.

A pretty nice morning on the river even with the winds still holding at 10 MPH+.  A beautiful sunrise through the clouds this morning.  One of my neighbors came back this week after being gone the month of March.  Second day in a row I've had a nice AM chat with a neighbor.  Everyone loves the dock and the lagoon lifestyle is why they snow bird here year after year!

🌤 Waterfront Weather Conditions

Time: 8 AM

Air Temperature: 71°F

Humidity: 35% - Makes it a bit chilly with the wind

Wind Direction & Speed: North at 10-15 MPH

Tide Stage: High at 7:30 AM and Low around 2:30 PM

Water Clarity: Moderate even with all the wind.

Water Conditions: Choppy with occasional white caps cresting.  A nice rhythm of waves breaking on the beach.

General Observations:

I didn't throw my nets this AM but I am going fishing later today.  I love to fish in combination with laundry day.  Why?  Because I can and that's cool.  Lagoon Lifestyle.

Lagoon Living Tip for the Day:

Use phosphate‑free fertilizers on your lawn.

Excess nutrients like phosphorus and nitrogen often wash into the lagoon during rainstorms, contributing to algae blooms and water quality problems. Many Florida-friendly fertilizers are designed specifically to protect waterways.

🎣 Fishing Activity & Wildlife Sightings

A few birds around but its pretty quiet overall.  I'm going to do some fishing later today so maybe I'll have some great photos tomorrow?

🏡 Sebastian & Vero Beach Real Estate Update & Suggestion of The Day

Check dock and seawall permits before you buy.

Not all waterfront improvements are automatically compliant. Docks, seawalls, and boat lifts often require permits, and unpermitted structures can become the new owner’s responsibility. Reviewing permits ahead of time helps avoid costly fixes or limitations on future upgrades.

Sebastian Florida WEEKEND Weather & Fishing Report – April 11, 2026 | Indian River Lagoon

Good Morning from Sebastian Florida

Good morning from the dock along the Indian River Lagoon in Sebastian, Florida. Here’s your daily waterfront weather, fishing, and wildlife WEEKEND report for Saturday April 11, 2026.

The winds are still howling with little change all day or night long.  I must be turning into a real south Floridian as now the winds make me a bit chilly!

🌤 Waterfront Weather Conditions

Time: 9 AM

Air Temperature: 68°F

Humidity: 65%

Wind Direction & Speed: North East at 10-15 MPH

Tide Stage: Low at 1 PM and High around 5:30 PM

Water Clarity: Cloudy from all the wind

Water Conditions: Choppy with occasional white caps cresting.  Tastes saltier than usual when I put the cast net in my mouth to throw.

General Observations:  A beautiful morning even if still a bit windy.  A busy weekend here in Sebastian as I work both of my hospitality side gigs this weekend and I've connected with a new buyer looking to move this way from the Orlando area.

Lagoon Living Tip for the Day:

Plant native shoreline vegetation whenever possible.

Native plants like sea grape, muhly grass, and mangroves help stabilize shorelines and filter runoff before it reaches the lagoon. They also provide habitat for birds and juvenile fish.

🎣 Fishing Activity & Wildlife Sightings

I threw the cast net five times and no fish today.  On a long bad streak!  The water tastes salty compared to usual when I throw and my guess is all this onshore wind has brough ocean water into the lagoon and since we've been in a drought they didn't release much of the rain we got down the San Sebastian river.  One man's theory.

🏡 Sebastian & Vero Beach Real Estate Update & Suggestion of The Day

Look for elevation and drainage when evaluating coastal property.

Even outside official flood zones, subtle elevation differences can affect how water moves during heavy rain. Walk the property after a storm if possible, and look for grading that directs water away from the home. Good drainage protects foundations, landscaping, and long‑term property value.

Sebastian Florida Weather & Fishing Report – April 10, 2026 | Indian River Lagoon

Good Morning from Sebastian Florida

Good morning from the dock along the Indian River Lagoon in Sebastian, Florida. Here’s your daily waterfront weather, fishing, and wildlife report for Friday April 10, 2026.

The rain has left us thankfully but the wind sure hasn't and it apparently isn't going to for days now.  Still a stiff 12-15 steady onshore wind.  It has the water level high and the fishing chances low.

🌤 Waterfront Weather Conditions

Time: 9 AM

Air Temperature: 70°F

Humidity: 78%

Wind Direction & Speed: North East at 10-15 MPH

Tide Stage: Low at 11:30 AM and High around 5 PM

Water Clarity: Moderate clarity with high levels from all the wind.

Water Conditions: Choppy with occasional white caps cresting.

General Observations:  Lots of birds today.  A great shot of a pelican on a post with the flag on the dock.  Good examples of a juvenile with brown head feathers as opposed to the reproductive male with white and orange.  Also, Woody woodpecker hammering away on a dead palm.

Lagoon Living Tip for the Day:

Install fish‑friendly lighting on your dock.

Underwater dock lights can attract baitfish and create a small nighttime ecosystem around your property. Soft green LED lights are popular because they draw plankton, which attracts baitfish and sometimes even snook and tarpon.

🎣 Fishing Activity & Wildlife Sightings

I threw the cast net 5 times with no success.  Water sees quiet.  I do still see some glass minnows but not much else.

🏡 Sebastian & Vero Beach Real Estate Update & Suggestion of The Day

Look beyond square footage and pay attention to storage.

In coastal Florida homes, practical storage matters more than many buyers expect. Space for fishing gear, paddleboards, beach equipment, and boating supplies can make daily life much easier. Garages with depth, outdoor storage closets, and room for a small shed are valuable features that often get overlooked during showings.

Sebastian Florida Weather & Fishing Report – April 9, 2026 | Indian River Lagoon

Good Morning from Sebastian Florida

Good morning from the dock along the Indian River Lagoon in Sebastian, Florida. Here’s your daily waterfront weather, fishing, and wildlife report for Thursday April 9, 2026.

Well, at least it is not raining for a minute.  That said the winds are still far from inviting!  I had a great day down in Vero yesterday working with ORCA.  I visited both the main HQ and the Center for Citizen Science.  At the center we worked in the nursery and planted 100s of Spartina grasses in pots that we will hold for about a month and then plant at the living shore project in Sebastian.  I thought I took a video but I didn't.  I'll do it next time I'm down there!

🌤 Waterfront Weather Conditions

Time: 9:00 AM

Air Temperature: 70°F

Humidity: 84%

Wind Direction & Speed: North at 20+ MPH

Tide Stage: Low at 10:30 AM and High around 4 PM

Water Clarity: Cloudy and HIGH from all the wind

Water Conditions: Waves in the lagoon and waves where the beach used to be.

General Observations:  Another quiet day in the lagoon for nature.  I threw the cast net 5 times and all I caught was Sargassum a floating brown algae that gets pushed back here with these types of weather conditions.

A few birds flying - gulls and pelicans but most everything is hunkered down with this weather.  I threw the cast net 5 times and didn't catch anything.

🌊 Indian River Lagoon Insight

This is what we've been experiencing for the past 3 days:

When it rains for days in Sebastian, Florida, it is usually because the weather pattern has become "stuck" due to specific atmospheric conditions—typically a stalled cold front combined with tropical moisture and sea breeze interactions.
FacebookFacebook
This phenomenon, often referred to as a "Florida Soaker," causes rain to continuously regenerate over the same area rather than moving through quickly.

🏡 Sebastian & Vero Beach Real Estate Update & Suggestion of The Day

Check insurance requirements early when buying a coastal home.

In Florida, insurance availability and cost can vary widely depending on the age of the roof, flood zone designation, and proximity to the water. Before finalizing a purchase, buyers should get insurance quotes so there are no surprises at closing.

Sebastian Florida Weather & Fishing Report – April 8a, 2026 | Indian River Lagoon

Good Morning from Sebastian Florida

Good morning from the dock along the Indian River Lagoon in Sebastian, Florida. Here’s your daily waterfront weather, fishing, and wildlife report for Wednesday April 8, 2026.

Man it wont quit raining and the wind has been non stop for 2 days now at 20 MHP and higher.  Almost 3 inched of rain since yesterday.  That said I'm off to volunteer today at ORCA.

🌤 Waterfront Weather Conditions

Time: 9:30 AM

Air Temperature: 68°F

Humidity: 85%

Wind Direction & Speed: North at 20+ MPH

Tide Stage: High at 2:30 PM and Low around 10:30 AM

Water Clarity: Cloudy from all the wind

Water Conditions: White caps cresting & breaking.

General Observations:  A good day for laundry, spring cleaning, watching the par 3 tournament at the Masters.  Not an outside day!

Lagoon Living Tip for the Day:

Rinse your boat lift cables and hardware regularly.

Salt, humidity, and lagoon spray slowly corrode metal parts. A quick freshwater rinse and occasional inspection of cables, pulleys, and bolts can extend the life of your lift and prevent a very expensive surprise.

🎣 Fishing Activity & Wildlife Sightings

With all the rain things are pretty quiet.  The osprey are still soaring up above playing on the wind but most other birds are still hunkered down somewhere in their escape from the rain and cold wind.

🏡 Sebastian & Vero Beach Real Estate Update & Suggestion of The Day

Pay attention to wind direction when buying near the water.

On barrier islands and along the Indian River Lagoon, prevailing winds can affect comfort on patios, docks, and outdoor living spaces. A backyard that faces the afternoon breeze can feel 10–15 degrees cooler in summer, while a poorly positioned patio might stay hot and still.

Sebastian Florida Weather & Fishing Report – April 7, 2026 | Indian River Lagoon

Good Morning from Sebastian Florida

Good morning from the dock along the Indian River Lagoon in Sebastian, Florida. Here’s your daily waterfront weather, fishing, and wildlife report for Tuesday April 7, 2026.

Rain, rain, and more rain.  It started overnight and hasn't quit today.  We've gone over in an inch in 12 hours and flash flood warnings have been issued.  It still cant stop me from getting to the dock!

🌤 Waterfront Weather Conditions

Time: Noon

Air Temperature: 72°F

Humidity: 86%

Wind Direction & Speed: North at 5 MPH

Tide Stage: High at 2 PM and Low was at 9 AM

Water Clarity: Clear and moderate level

Water Conditions: Calm with the low winds but it gets choppy with the gusts.

General Observations:  Just like with people who live in a  sunny climate.  When it rains we take the day to relax.  Birds are about but everything seems calm today on the lagoon.

Lagoon Living Tip for the Day:

🎣 Fishing Activity & Wildlife Sightings

With all the wind things are pretty quiet.  The osprey are soaring up above playing on the wind but most other birds are still hunkered down somewhere in their escape from yesterdays cold wind.  Here is one that caught a nice sized mullet flying away.

Buyers should always attend the home inspection if possible.

Sebastian Florida Weather & Fishing Report – April 6, 2026 | Indian River Lagoon

Good Morning from Sebastian Florida

Good morning from the dock along the Indian River Lagoon in Sebastian, Florida. Here’s your daily waterfront weather, fishing, and wildlife report for Wednesday April 6, 2026.

Back on the dock after my fathers passing.  I know this may sound weird but it was a great trip.  My father was loved by many and had a fabulous life.  He couldn't do that anymore and then he died quickly and peacefully.  Not bad.  There are worse things than death!  He left my mom in great shape but she now has to figure out what to do after loosing the man she was with for 60 years since she was 21 in 1968!  That's huge.

🌤 Waterfront Weather Conditions

Time: 10:30 AM

Air Temperature: 75°F

Humidity: 75%

Wind Direction & Speed: East at 2-5 MPH

Tide Stage: High at 1:30 PM and Low was at 8 AM

Water Clarity: Clear and shallow!

Water Conditions: Calm and beautiful

General Observations: Rain moving in for the next few days.  I saw a 3' shar last night when down on the dock.

Real Estate Tip for the Day:  Look at a property at various times of the day and weekends and week days.

Lagoon Living Tip for the Day:  This section will debut tomorrow.  How fun!

🎣 Fishing Activity & Wildlife Sightings

Still no luck with the cast net.  10 throws and nothing.  Tons of glass minnows and I could see some mullet but no luck.

I did catch this lady fish and she (maybe he) fought like a lion.  Jumping out of the water etc.  Super fun!  That must be difficult to be a male lady fish.  Hummmm.....

Sebastian Florida Weather & Fishing Report – March 30, 2026 | Indian River Lagoon

Good Morning from Sebastian Florida

Good morning from the dock along the Indian River Lagoon in Sebastian, Florida. Here’s your daily waterfront weather, fishing, and wildlife report for Monday March 30, 2026.

The winds are still whipping but down from the past 24 hours!  No more 40 MPH gusts which is nice but it is still a steady 10-15 MPH from the east which is a bummer for boating and fishing from the dock.

🌤 Waterfront Weather Conditions

Time: 10:30 AM

Air Temperature: 76°F

Wind Direction & Speed: East at 10-15 MPH

Tide Stage: High at 1 PM

Water Clarity: Cloudy from all the wind

Overall Conditions: Choppy with occasional white caps cresting.

🎣 Fishing Activity & Wildlife Sightings

With all the wind things are pretty quiet.  The osprey are soaring up above playing on the wind but most other birds are still hunkered down somewhere in their escape from yesterdays cold wind.

🌊 Indian River Lagoon Insight

Today I took a nice walk and documented some of the plants that are starting to bounce back after the freeze we got this winter.  I saw the first signs of the sea grapes sprouting new growth!  Hopefully people have cut back the dead as that part will not come back but they apparently will start to regrow from sone of the old lower branches!

Seagrapes!

New growth from death.

This is just a beautiful staghorn fern.  In a tree that is now dead from what I can tell but it is on a chain and can be moved if the tree dies.
