Good Morning from Sebastian Florida

Good morning from the dock along the Indian River Lagoon in Sebastian, Florida. Here’s your daily waterfront weather, fishing, and wildlife report for Monday May 18, 2026.

A quiet morning down on the dock now that the weekend campers have pulled out.  By the days end there were already some new arrivals though.  It's like living in a hotel here and I love hotels.

🌤 Waterfront Weather Conditions

Time: 10:30 AM

Air Temperature: 82°F with a high of 83

Humidity: 75%

Wind Direction & Speed: East at 10-15 MPH

Tide Stage: High at 6:30 AM and Low around 12 PM

Water Conditions: Choppy with occasional white caps cresting.  

General Observations:

The East winds are back.  They are certainly the most refreshing in the summer but they make fisihng tough.

Lagoon Living Tip for the Day:

Keep a simple wildlife journal.

You’d be amazed how quickly you start noticing seasonal patterns: manatees in warmer water, bait schools moving through, dolphin activity, ospreys nesting, or the return of migratory birds.

 

🎣 Fishing Activity & Wildlife Sightings

I'm embarking on a sea grape encouragement program.  The sea grape is a native shrubby tree that does in fact produce fruit that is good to eat.  They also do a good job of holding sand banks along with mangroves.  Next to this poor sea grape are invasive species.  The awful thing on the left almost died from the freeze this past year so now is my chance!  It has horrible spines all over it and it grows close to the ground and snares everything it touches.  Gone now.

Next is the Brazilian pepper trees to the right.  Baby steps!
