Good morning from the dock along the Indian River Lagoon in Sebastian, Florida. Here’s your daily waterfront weather, fishing, and wildlife report for Wednesday May 13, 2026.

A great morning for some volunteer work for ORCA at the Riverfront Park and the buffered shoreline project I help out with.  Next week I'm off to do my first water sampling day that I was trained for a few weeks ago!

 

I'm also picking up a tennis racket again for the 1st time in 5 years next week on Tuesday.  Heads up.  Downtown Sebastian Park clay courts.  I'm too old for hard courst any more.

Wind Direction & Speed: West at 2-5 MPH

Tide Stage: High at 11:30 AM and Low around 6 PM

Water Conditions: Calm and clear

General Observations:

It's darn hot out here today!  West winds don't cool things off much.

Lagoon Living Tip for the Day:

Turn off unnecessary outdoor lights during sea turtle nesting season.

Bright beachfront and waterfront lighting can confuse hatchlings trying to reach the ocean. Using turtle-friendly lighting helps protect local marine life connected to the lagoon ecosystem.

 

🎣 Fishing Activity & Wildlife Sightings

Lots of fish jumping down here at the public kayak launch.  1 guy was fishing when we arrived and later another man came with his cast net.

Keep Brevard Beautiful organizes community cleanups, recycling education, shoreline restoration efforts, and environmental stewardship programs throughout Brevard County. Their volunteers help remove litter from parks, roads, waterways, and areas connected to the Indian River Lagoon watershed.

 

Their work shows how small community actions can create a major positive impact on local ecosystems and neighborhood pride.
