Good Morning from Sebastian Florida

Good morning from the dock along the Indian River Lagoon in Sebastian, Florida. Here’s your daily waterfront weather, fishing, and wildlife report for Tuesday March 17, 2026.

Man it's cold!  Mid 50s with a 20 MPH NW wind.  Its like someone turned a hose on in the lagoon.  The front that is pushing down the east coast is piling water up into the lagoon.  The wind direction is keeping it from being even greater.  3 of us neighbors had to help a 4th pull his boat further up on the beach as the wave were lapping at the back of it and slowly filling it with water!

It's spring break season in south Florida.  Sebastian is not a hot spot for the college kids, a few hours south is another story, but there are certainly more people around and many with high school aged kids.  I saw 4 of them on jet skis this morning flying down the river.  Tough day for that rental.

🌤 Waterfront Weather Conditions

            Time: 9:45 AM

            Air Temperature: 55°F

Wind Direction & Speed: NW at 20+ MPH

Tide Stage: High at 10 AM

Water Clarity: Cloudy from all the wind

Overall Conditions: Wavy but not as severe as yesterday.  The NW wind doesn't hit the lagoon like it does up              the St Sebastian river..

🎣 Fishing Activity & Wildlife Sightings

With all the wind things are pretty quiet. It was too cold to stay down for long but there were spring breakers on jet skis!

The wildlife today was confined to some birds.  I did a Zen video that's on my YouTube channel that is a few minutes of me tracking a blue heron feeding on the shore line.  In those videos I don't talk.  Just nature.  Check it out.  My YouTube channel is just the same as my web address - www.youtube.com/ChrisNorrisRealEstate.

🌊 Indian River Lagoon Insight

It's amazing how different the lagoon is every day.  The water level in the lagoon, the clarity, the wind speed and direction, etc.  One of the great things about lagoon life is that it is different all the time if you watch it.  The beach is pretty much the beach every day.  And I'm glad for that so when I want some beach time I can go get some but I love watching the river change daily.  Endlessly fascinating to me.

🏡 Sebastian & Vero Beach Real Estate Update & Suggestions

Todays suggestion is to have any property you are going to buy inspected by a licensed professional.  Considering the value of what you are about to purchase, $500 or so to have it looked over is well worth the investment.

The real estate market in Sebastian and Vero Beach remains balanced overall. Inventory levels are steady, and well-positioned homes continue to move quickly when priced appropriately.  There is plenty of inventory and only slight price reductions seen in the market.  Days on market is a more traditional 75 than the hyper markets we have had in the past few years.
