Good Morning from Saint Simons Island GA
Today we are on the road at the fishing pier in the Village of Saint Simons Island but I still deliver the waterfront weather, fishing, and wildlife report for Thursday June 11, 2026.
I love driving into SSI from the south as I get to go over the Sidney Lanier bridge which spans the Brunswick harbor. Brunswick is the #1 port in the US for the handling of cars. There are massive parking lots inland that hold ten of thousands of cars at a time. If you want to watch me actually drive across the bridge check out this video!
Last night I came to town a night early at stayed at the Home2 Suites right on the airport. It was awesome to lay at the pool and watch these jets and their lovely passengers come and I go. I felt like a millionaire!
While out on the pier I walked up just after a guy released a blue shark he caught. They do a lot of shark fishing off of the pier there. The shipping channel creates some 50' deep channels that allows a lot of stuff to hide in and then pop up to the flats to eat!
