100th post!  Good Morning from Sebastian Florida

Good morning from the dock along the Indian River Lagoon in Sebastian, Florida. Here’s your daily waterfront weather, fishing, and wildlife report for Monday July 13, 2026.

When I filmed my first Dock Report, I honestly wasn't sure where it would lead.

I simply wanted to share what I was seeing each morning from my little corner of the Indian River Lagoon. The weather, the wildlife, the fishing conditions, and the simple beauty that makes Sebastian such a special place to live.

One hundred posts later, I've realized these reports have become something bigger than I imagined.

They've introduced me to new friends, started conversations at volunteer projects, connected me with people who love this community, and even helped people who spend their summers up north feel like they were back home for a few minutes each morning.

Along the way, I've watched dolphins feed under the dock, osprey hunt for breakfast, manatees drift by, and countless sunrises remind me why I chose to make Sebastian home.

The reports have grown too.

They now include our parks, local restaurants, conservation efforts, farmers, community events, and all the little moments that together make up what I call Sebastian Lagoon Life.

As a Realtor, I help people buy and sell homes.

But these reports have reminded me that people don't move here because of a house.

They move here because of a lifestyle.

A sunrise on the lagoon.

A quiet kayak paddle.

A favorite fishing spot.

Neighbors who become friends.

A place that simply feels right.

So thank you to everyone who has watched a video, read a blog post, asked a fishing question, shared a report, or simply stopped me to say hello.

This is only Post #100.

Tide Stage: High at 9:30 AM and Low around 4:30 PM

Learn the Story Behind the Water

The Indian River Lagoon isn't a single river. It's a connected estuary stretching about 156 miles along Florida's east coast, where freshwater from rivers and rainfall mixes with saltwater from the Atlantic Ocean. That blend creates one of North America's most biologically diverse estuaries and supports thousands of species of plants and animals.

Understanding that simple fact helps explain why water quality, rainfall, tides, and freshwater runoff all matter so much. Every creek, canal, marsh, and storm drain eventually becomes part of the lagoon's story.

I got a picture of the blue heron and the great blue heron together.  I always assume the blue heron needs lots of therapy having a relative being knows as great!

Treasure Coast Food Bank

A thriving community depends on both healthy ecosystems and healthy neighbors. The Treasure Coast Food Bank serves Indian River, St. Lucie, Martin, and Okeechobee counties by providing nutritious food, disaster relief, and programs that address the root causes of hunger. Through partnerships with local pantries, schools, senior centers, and community organizations, they distribute millions of meals each year while also offering nutrition education and job training.

Their work includes:

  • Food distribution through local partner agencies
  • School backpack and children's meal programs
  • Senior nutrition assistance
  • Disaster response and emergency food relief
  • Culinary and workforce training
  • Volunteer opportunities for individuals and groups

 

While they may not work directly on the lagoon, organizations like the Treasure Coast Food Bank strengthen the communities that surround it. Healthy, connected communities are better equipped to care for both people and the natural places they cherish.

Spend Time Outside Before You Buy

A home's outdoor spaces can be just as important as what's inside.

When you're touring a property, don't rush back to the car. Spend a few extra minutes outside and ask yourself:

  • Where will you enjoy your morning coffee?
  • Is there enough shade in the afternoon?
  • Can you hear traffic, or mostly birds?
  • Is there room for a garden, fire pit, or outdoor kitchen?
  • Does the breeze make the patio comfortable?
