Sebastian Florida Weather & Fishing Report – April 29, 2026 | Indian River Lagoon

Good Morning from Sebastian Florida

Good morning from the dock along the Indian River Lagoon in Sebastian, Florida. Here’s your daily waterfront weather, fishing, and wildlife report for Wednesday April 29, 2026.

Another morning from the dock at Sebastian Saltwater.  Its another beautiful day in Sebastian.  The breeze hasn't kicked in yet so it's pretty warm but that will change soon.

🌤 Waterfront Weather Conditions

Time: 9:00 AM

Air Temperature: 77°F

Humidity: 60%

Wind Direction & Speed: East at 2-3 MPH

Tide Stage: High at 9:30 AM and Low around 4 PM

Water Clarity: Clear

Water Conditions: Clear and calm this morning.  The winds will kick up out of the east later today though.

General Observations:

A beautiful morning.  A few folks getting their boats gassed up and the cut is busy with traffic.  Spring snook are in the river too and a waitress at Sebastian Saltwater showed me a 35' snook she and her boyfriend caught yesterday.

Lagoon Living Tip for the Day:

Rinse boats and gear with fresh water after use.

Saltwater is tough on equipment. A quick rinse after each outing helps extend the life of your boat, fishing gear, and dock hardware.

🎣 Fishing Activity & Wildlife Sightings

Lots of bait fish in the water this AM which keeps the pelicans and shore birds busy.  I didn't see any snook this AM but they are around.  I did see a dead sea trout floating.  Bummer.

🏡 Sebastian & Vero Beach Real Estate Suggestion of The Day

Check flood zones and insurance costs early.

In coastal areas, a home’s flood zone can significantly impact your monthly expenses. Even homes that have never flooded may still require insurance depending on their designation.

Sebastian Florida Weather & Fishing Report – April 28, 2026 | Indian River Lagoon

Good Morning from Sebastian Florida

Good morning from the dock along the Indian River Lagoon in Sebastian, Florida. Here’s your daily waterfront weather, fishing, and wildlife report for Tuesday April 28, 2026.

A little bit of a filed trip today.  The report is being filed from the dock at Sebastian Saltwater marina.  An adult and juvenile pelican keeping close eye on the fish cleaning station.

🌤 Waterfront Weather Conditions

Time: 10:30 AM

Air Temperature: 76°F

Humidity: 75%

Wind Direction & Speed: NE at 0-2 MPH

Tide Stage: High at 10:30 AM and Low around 5 PM

Water Clarity: Clear and calm

Water Conditions: Calm and clear

General Observations:

I enjoy looking across the water to the A1A bridge that spans the cut.  It's so close.  I want to connect the mainland to the park right over there!  Check todays video.

Lagoon Living Tip for the Day:

Use phosphorus-free fertilizer near the water.

Excess nutrients like phosphorus can run off into the lagoon and fuel harmful algae blooms. Choosing lagoon-friendly fertilizers helps protect water quality.

🎣 Fishing Activity & Wildlife Sightings

Just hanging with the pelicans today but I did see a big snook hit some bait as I was walking of the dock.  Gulp!

Their goal is to make lagoon restoration something everyone can be part of—not just scientists and policymakers.

🏡 Sebastian & Vero Beach Real Estate Suggestion of The Day

Look at the direction a home faces.

The orientation of a home affects natural light, heat, and even energy bills—especially in Florida. West-facing homes get intense afternoon sun, while east-facing homes enjoy cooler mornings.

Sebastian Florida Weather & Fishing Report – April 27, 2026 | Indian River Lagoon

Good Morning from Sebastian Florida

Good morning from the dock along the Indian River Lagoon in Sebastian, Florida. Here’s your daily waterfront weather, fishing, and wildlife report for Monday April 27, 2026.

Man, its amazing how much the micro weather changes every day.  It may be partly cloudy and 78 all day but the way the wind blows here determines comfort.  All day Sunday it was out of the west and that doesn't hit us on the lagoon and it is "hot as hades", as I believe I said at one point at the restaurant.

Then at 5 PM the wind changed 180 degrees and has stayed that way until now.  It seems like summer may have blown in.  The air is heavy and it's coming.  The summer humidity.  Contrary to popular belief it doesn't get much hotter here in the summer but the humidity does rise and stay there.  Knowing where there is a breeze becomes a mandatory year round Floridian skil!

🌤 Waterfront Weather Conditions

Time: 10 AM

Air Temperature: 76°F

Humidity: 78%

Wind Direction & Speed: North at 10 MPH

Tide Stage: High at 8 AM and Low around 3 PM

Water Clarity: Lower than it has been

Water Conditions: The north wind stirs the lagoon some with a lioght chop.

General Observations:

Today is space rocket launch day.  There is a huge rocket going up this AM at 10:30 with a main thruster and 2 side boosters.  Then tonight at 8:30 there is another.  I'll try and catch them on film!  My buddy from the neighborhood is also playing at No Name Bar tonight so we'll see how all that works!  It's like the end of summer camp dance/talent show for the neighborhood.  Should be a hoot.  I cleaned my bathroom in case I procure any visitors>  =)

Lagoon Living Tip for the Day:

Install native plants along your shoreline.

Native vegetation helps prevent erosion, filters runoff, and provides habitat for wildlife. Plus, they’re adapted to Florida’s climate, so they require less maintenance.

🎣 Fishing Activity & Wildlife Sightings

All aerospace this AM. I threw the cast net 7 times and didn't catch anything.  Also had a few lines in the water with no success.

🌊 Indian River Lagoon Spotlight

Featured Organization: Indian River Lagoon National Estuary Program

The Indian River Lagoon National Estuary Program (IRLNEP) is a key organization focused on research, conservation, and community engagement across the lagoon. They fund restoration projects, support scientific studies, and provide resources to help residents better understand how to protect this vital ecosystem.

Their work connects local governments, scientists, and the public in a shared mission to restore and preserve the lagoon.

🏡 Sebastian & Vero Beach Real Estate Suggestion of The Day

Pay attention to easements on the property.

Easements can give others legal access to part of your land—like utility companies or neighbors. This can affect privacy, future improvements, and even property value, so always review the survey carefully.

Sebastian Florida Weather & Fishing WEEKEND Report – April 25, 2026 | Indian River Lagoon

Good Morning from Sebastian Florida

Good morning from the dock along the Indian River Lagoon in Sebastian, Florida. Here’s your WEEKEND waterfront weather, fishing, and wildlife report for Saturday April 25, 2026.

A beautiful day for some volunteering.  I'm off to The Old Fish House in Valkaria this morning to help with the billion clam initiative.  It's mostly centered in Brevard right now but I want to bring it to Indian River county.  Why clams.  A - I love clams and B - they are water cleaning machines and were over fished and decimated in the late 1990s here in the lagoon

Both tanks have native water and sediment.  The clam tank after 30 min!

🌤 Waterfront Weather Conditions

Time: 10 AM

Air Temperature: 76°F

Humidity: 66%

Wind Direction & Speed: South at 5 MPH

Tide Stage: Low 1PM and High around 6:30 PM

Water Clarity: Clear and beautiful

Water Conditions: Calm, low, and clear

General Observations:

Lots of enthusiasm at the Billion Clam initiative this morning.  Here are a couple of video I shot and are on my YouTube channel.

Mangroves to Plant

Clam tank!

Lagoon Living Tip for the Day:

Secure outdoor items before storms.

Living near the lagoon means sudden storms and strong winds. Loose patio furniture, kayaks, and dock gear can quickly become hazards—or end up in the water.

🎣 Fishing Activity & Wildlife Sightings

All clams and mangroves this AM.

🌊 Indian River Lagoon Spotlight

Featured Organization: Brevard Zoo Restore Our Shores

Restore Our Shores, an initiative by Brevard Zoo, focuses on living shoreline restoration projects throughout the Indian River Lagoon. They build oyster reefs and plant native vegetation to stabilize shorelines, improve water quality, and create habitat for marine life.

Their hands-on projects not only protect the lagoon but also involve the community directly in restoration efforts.

🏡 Sebastian & Vero Beach Real Estate Suggestion of The Day

Check the age and condition of major systems—not just aesthetics.

It’s easy to focus on finishes, but HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems are what really drive long-term costs. A beautiful home with aging systems can quickly become expensive.

Sebastian Florida Weather & Fishing Report – April 24, 2026 | Indian River Lagoon

Good Morning from Sebastian Florida

Good morning from the dock along the Indian River Lagoon in Sebastian, Florida. Here’s your daily waterfront weather, fishing, and wildlife report for Monday April 24, 2026.

A beautiful morning on the dock.  The humidity is still tolerable and that's how you know its not summer yet.  That said, the area is getting quieter as the snow birds leave.

Speaking of snow birds.  The white pelicans that showed up here around Thanksgiving and left before Easter are the original snow birds and where the term comes from.  Sebastian is known as the home of Pelican Island.  Pelican Island was the first piece of land set aside by the federal government and let to the creation of the National Park System.  Read more here.

🌤 Waterfront Weather Conditions

Time: 9:30 AM

Air Temperature: 73°F

Humidity: 66%

Wind Direction & Speed: East from 0-3 MPH

Tide Stage: Low at 12 PM and High around 5 PM

Water Clarity: As clear as it gets

Water Conditions: Calm, clear and low

General Observations:

Looking in the water is like looking ion a fish tank today.  I can see needle fish, mullet, puffers, and rays.

Lagoon Living Tip for the Day:

Rinse your boat responsibly.

After a day on the water, rinsing your boat is important—but try to do it over grass or gravel instead of pavement so water can filter naturally before reaching the lagoon.

🎣 Fishing Activity & Wildlife Sightings

I threw the cast net 5 times and didn't come up with anything.  I also fished with a dead shrimp on a cork and used my jig tipped with shrimp and had no luck.  One of the other neighbors did catch a ray earlier this AM and while reeling it in had dolphin coming to either check it out or possibly eat it she said.  Quite an exciting morning for her!

🏡 Sebastian & Vero Beach Real Estate Suggestion of The Day

Verify flood zone changes—not just current status.

Flood zones can be updated over time, which may impact future insurance costs and resale value. Ask for the property’s flood history and check if remapping is expected in the area.

Sebastian Florida Weather & Fishing Report – April 23, 2026 | Indian River Lagoon

Good Morning from Sebastian Florida

Good morning from the dock along the Indian River Lagoon in Sebastian, Florida. Here’s your daily waterfront weather, fishing, and wildlife report for Thursday April 23, 2026.

Wow, what a difference a day makes.  It is so still and calm this morning.  The water is relatively low and surprisingly clear.  I can see lots of fish today!  I also had a great afternoon yesterday volunteering for ORCA.  I'm helping with a water quality sampling program they have that covers up and down the Indian River.  They have various monitoring stations in the water that are constantly checking salinity, temp, and various other factors.  Check out the live feed at - Live Kilroy Data Feed

The project I'm helping with (Ecotoxicity) did water and muck sampling!  Yes, the nasty stuff that is part soil, part decomposing material, and water.  We spun down muck and sampled that water in addition to water in the water column.  We looked at Phosphates & Nitrates.  It gets tested for heavy metals at times and other tests are run.  Check out the maps here - Toxicity Maps

🌤 Waterfront Weather Conditions

Time: 9 AM

Air Temperature: 72°F

Humidity: 63%

Wind Direction & Speed: Calm but slight hints of an East breeze

Tide Stage: Low at 10:30 AM and High around 4 PM

Water Clarity: Amazingly clear

Water Conditions: Like a peaceful bath tub

General Observations:

Lots of fish today.  A school of small snook (not pictured), large and small mullet, sting rays, puffer fish (not pictured)

Lagoon Living Tip for the Day:

Be aware of manatee zones when boating.

The Indian River Lagoon is a protected habitat for manatees. Slow-speed zones aren’t just regulations—they help protect one of Florida’s most iconic species.

🎣 Fishing Activity & Wildlife Sightings

Whoops I put all the fish stuff up there!

🏡 Sebastian & Vero Beach Real Estate Suggestion of The Day

A newer roof can be a major negotiating advantage.

In Florida, roof age affects insurance more than almost anything else. A home with a newer roof can save buyers thousands—and sellers can use that as a strong selling point.

Sebastian Florida Weather & Fishing Report – April 22, 2026 | Indian River Lagoon

Good Morning from Sebastian Florida

Good morning from the dock along the Indian River Lagoon in Sebastian, Florida. Here’s your daily waterfront weather, fishing, and wildlife report for Wednesday April 22, 2026.

Still windy but much better.  It doesn't blow you off the dock today!  A pretty morning overall and the humidity is low.  I slept with windows open last night and that isn't a frequent occurrence!  The water is nice and clear and not too high considering the east winds we've had.  Maybe that east wind pushed some fresh new water in.

🌤 Waterfront Weather Conditions

Time: 8:30 AM

Air Temperature: 71°F

Humidity: 55%

Wind Direction & Speed: East at 10-12 MPH

Tide Stage: Low at 9:30 AM and High around 3 PM

Water Clarity: Nice and clear with the winds down

Water Conditions: Clear and a moderate level.

General Observations:

Lots of birds out today.  They've probably been hunkered down for the past few days with feeding being more difficult.  An osprey just hung over my head for a while and I created a Zen video out of it.

Lagoon Living Tip for the Day:

Keep an eye on your seawall cap and edges.

Small cracks or erosion at the top of a seawall can grow over time, especially with boat wakes and storms. Catching issues early is much easier (and cheaper) than a full repair.

🎣 Fishing Activity & Wildlife Sightings

Lots of birds out.  I saw osprey, pelicans feeding, cormorants, turns and the mottled ducks.  Pretty quiet in the water as it is still pretty choppy.

🏡 Sebastian & Vero Beach Real Estate Suggestion of The Day

Don’t overlook HOA and community rules.

Even if a home checks every box, HOA rules can impact how you live—boat parking, rental restrictions, exterior changes, even pet limits. Always review the documents before committing.

Sebastian Florida Weather & Fishing Report – April 21, 2026 | Indian River Lagoon

Good Morning from Sebastian Florida

Good morning from the dock along the Indian River Lagoon in Sebastian, Florida. Here’s your daily waterfront weather, fishing, and wildlife report for Tuesday April 21, 2026.

The wind is a whipping!  It sounds like the new flag on the front of my house is going to be ripped from the pole.

🌤 Waterfront Weather Conditions

Time: 9:30 AM

Air Temperature: 73°F

Humidity: 53%

Wind Direction & Speed: Northeast at 15-20+ MPH

Tide Stage: Low at 8:30 AM and High around 2 PM

Water Clarity: Cloudy from all the wind

Water Conditions: Rough and rising!

General Observations:

Here are a couple of pictures that show well what an east wind does.  Pic on the left was 2 days ago.  The right is today.  It will get higher and I'll document that too.

Lagoon Living Tip for the Day:

Use eco-friendly cleaning products for outdoor spaces.

When washing boats, docks, or patios, harsh chemicals can run off directly into the lagoon. Choosing biodegradable, phosphate-free cleaners helps protect water quality and marine life.

🎣 Fishing Activity & Wildlife Sightings

The birds are all that seem to tolerate weather like this.  Even the lizards are hunkered down.  I did see a swallow tailed kite yesterday and that's a new life list bird for me.  That's always exciting.

🌊 Indian River Lagoon Insight

Featured Organization: ORCA (Ocean Research & Conservation Association)

ORCA is a science-based nonprofit dedicated to monitoring and improving water quality in the Indian River Lagoon. They’re known for their advanced water testing programs and for providing real-time data that helps identify pollution sources and track ecosystem health.

Their work plays a critical role in guiding restoration efforts and informing the public about the lagoon’s condition.

🏡 Sebastian & Vero Beach Real Estate Suggestion of The Day

Check drainage and grading—especially after heavy rain.

A property might look perfect on a sunny day, but poor drainage can lead to water pooling, foundation issues, and long-term damage. Look for signs like soggy areas, water stains, or ask neighbors about how the lot handles storms.

Sebastian Florida Weather & Fishing Report – April 20, 2026 | Indian River Lagoon

Good Morning from Sebastian Florida

Good morning from the dock along the Indian River Lagoon in Sebastian, Florida. Here’s your daily waterfront weather, fishing, and wildlife report for Monday April 20, 2026.

Well the winds are back and man they don't mean maybe.  No fishing or the likes today!  Laundry without fishing is just laundry.  =(

🌤 Waterfront Weather Conditions

Time: 9 AM

Air Temperature: 73°F

Humidity: 78%

Wind Direction & Speed: NorthEast at 20+ MPH

Tide Stage: Low at 8 AM (0.0) and High around 1 PM (0.4)

Water Clarity: Cloudy from all the wind

Water Conditions: Choppy with occasional white caps cresting.  Rough and rising

General Observations:  Look at how little influence the tides have here on water levels.  Low of 0.0 means it doesn't actually get any lower and a High of 0.4 means 4 tenths of an inch rise.  On the coast of GA where I spent a lot of my life has 7 feet to 10 feet in change with highs and lows.  Amazing.  Every coast is different!

Lagoon Living Tip for the Day:

Watch what you fertilize—and when.

Excess fertilizer runoff is one of the biggest contributors to lagoon pollution. Use slow-release, lagoon-friendly fertilizers and avoid applying them before heavy rains.

🎣 Fishing Activity & Wildlife Sightings

Hunkered down for the wind.  I saw 1 seagull and it was struggling to get where it was going.

🌊 Indian River Lagoon Insight

Featured Organization: Keep Brevard Beautiful

Keep Brevard Beautiful is a nonprofit focused on environmental cleanup, waste reduction, and community beautification throughout the Space Coast, including areas surrounding the Indian River Lagoon. 🏡 Sebastian & Vero Beach Real Estate Update & Suggestion of The Day

Understand seawall condition before you close.

On waterfront properties, the seawall is just as important as the house itself. Repairs or replacements can cost tens of thousands of dollars. Always inspect for cracks, bowing, or erosion—and ask about age and permits.

Sebastian Florida Weather & Fishing WEEKEND Report – April 18, 2026 | Indian River Lagoon

Good Morning from Sebastian Florida

Good morning from the dock along the Indian River Lagoon in Sebastian, Florida. Here’s your daily waterfront weather, fishing, and wildlife WEEKEND report for Saturday April 18, 2026.

I've got an idea bouncing around in my head that has me on fire.  I want to help bring to life an electric gondola crossing of the lagoon.  Tying the municipal parking lot on the north end of the business district on Indian River Dr to the Inlet State park.  A 6 minute trip!  Bring the beach to restaurant row with no drive time.  Take us lagoon livers over to the beach in 6 min and drop at the park for beach going and fishing.  I'd use it all the time.

🌤 Waterfront Weather Conditions

Time: 9:30 AM

Air Temperature: 72°F

Humidity: 87%

Wind Direction & Speed: NW at 2-5 MPH

Tide Stage: High at 11:30 AM (0.4) and Low around 6 PM (-0.3)

Water Clarity: Clear as a it gets and low

Water Conditions: Beautiful with dolphin playing all over the place

General Observations:

I didn't catch anything in my cast net today but I see mullet and glass minnows all over the place.  It's warm and the lagoon is alive!

Lagoon Living Tip for the Day:

Plant native vegetation along the shoreline.

Native plants help stabilize the soil, reduce runoff, and naturally filter pollutants before they reach the lagoon. Plus, they require less maintenance and support local wildlife.

🎣 Fishing Activity & Wildlife Sightings

See my fun video above!

They’re especially impactful in educating residents and visitors about how everyday choices affect water quality and marine life.

🏡 Sebastian & Vero Beach Real Estate Update & Suggestion of The Day

Check flood zone changes—not just current designation.

Flood maps can and do change over time. A home that isn’t currently in a high-risk flood zone could be reclassified in the future, impacting insurance costs and resale value. Look at historical flood data and proposed FEMA updates before making a decision.
