Sebastian Florida Weather & Fishing Report – June 2, 2026 | Indian River Lagoon

Good Morning from Sebastian Florida

Good morning from the dock along the Indian River Lagoon in Sebastian, Florida. Here’s your daily waterfront weather, fishing, and wildlife report for Tuesday June 2, 2026.

A beautiful day down at Sebastian Saltwater Marina and Restaurant.  We've had some hard spots of rain over the past few days but it is nice this morning.  Darn humid and wind out of the west but that is supposed to change in the next few days.

🌤 Waterfront Weather Conditions

Time: 10:30 AM

Air Temperature: 83°F - high of 88

Humidity: 87%

Wind Direction & Speed: West at 5-8 MPH

Tide Stage: High at 11:30 AM and Low around 6 PM

Water Conditions: Calm and clear with a light ripple

Lagoon Living Tip for the Day:

Watch the wind before planning your water day.

In the Indian River Lagoon, wind direction often matters more than temperature. A calm 75° day can be perfect on the water, while a windy 75° day may mean murky water, choppy conditions, and fewer wildlife sightings.

🎣 Fishing Activity & Wildlife Sightings

It's always busy down at the marina.  I watched and egret and 2 pelicans work together this morning.  The egret was plucking minnows from the shoreline so they would swim into deeper water where 2 pelicans sat in the water and just bobbed for breakfast.

A couple of big snook or tarpon were looking for breakfast too!

🌊 Indian River Lagoon Spotlight

Featured Organization: One Lagoon

One Lagoon is a regional nonprofit dedicated to connecting people with the Indian River Lagoon through education, storytelling, community engagement, and collaborative conservation efforts. Their programs help residents, visitors, scientists, businesses, and environmental groups work together toward a healthier lagoon.

One of their greatest strengths is bringing diverse organizations to the same table, helping transform lagoon conservation from a collection of separate projects into a shared community mission.

🏡 Sebastian & Vero Real Estate Suggestion of The Day

Tree placement matters more than many buyers realize.

Well-positioned mature trees can provide shade, reduce cooling costs, increase privacy, and add character to a property. At the same time, it's worth understanding the condition of large trees and their proximity to roofs, pools, and septic systems.

Sebastian Florida Weather & Fishing Report – June 1, 2026 | Indian River Lagoon

Good Morning from Sebastian Florida

Good morning from the dock along the Indian River Lagoon in Sebastian, Florida. Here’s your daily waterfront weather, fishing, and wildlife report for Monday June 1, 2026.

Man is it quiet and still this morning on the dock.  The rain they said was coming finally came yesterday and man did it rain!  Look at where the kayak launch area washed through the beach and created a delta under the dock now!

QUESTION OF THE DAY  - What's the coolest thing you've ever seen in the lagoon?

🌤 Waterfront Weather Conditions

Time: 7:30 AM

Air Temperature: 77°F - high of 87

Humidity: 91% - afternoon thundershowers here we come

Wind Direction & Speed: West at 0-3 MPH

Tide Stage: High at 11:30 AM and Low around 6:30 PM

Water Conditions: Flat as a pancake and clear.  Watch the snook in the video.

Lagoon Living Tip for the Day:

Learn the seasonal rhythms of the lagoon.

The Indian River Lagoon is constantly changing. Mullet runs, manatee season, spoonbill sightings, dolphin activity, migrating birds, and fishing patterns all shift throughout the year.

🎣 Fishing Activity & Wildlife Sightings

A film a snook today in the video!

The other wildlife are no-see-ums!  Man when the wind doesn't blow they are out like little monsters.  That kept the dock visit quick.  It's an hour later and it still feels like they are stuck on me in places.

🌊 Indian River Lagoon Spotlight

Featured Community Partner: The Buggy Bunch

Based on the Treasure Coast, The Buggy Bunch serves local families through programs that provide food assistance, educational support, parenting resources, mentoring, and community outreach. Their work helps strengthen the social fabric of the communities that surround and depend upon the lagoon.

Healthy waterways thrive when communities thrive. Organizations like The Buggy Bunch are part of what makes the Treasure Coast a special place to live.

🏡 Sebastian & Vero Real Estate Suggestion of The Day

Pay attention to the view corridors, not just the view.

A beautiful water view today doesn't guarantee the same view five years from now. Look at neighboring lots, zoning, conservation areas, easements, and undeveloped parcels that could affect future sightlines.

Sebastian Florida Weather & Fishing Report – May 29, 2026 | Indian River Lagoon - WEEKEND REPORT

Good Morning from Sebastian Florida

Good morning from the dock along the Indian River Lagoon in Sebastian, Florida. Here’s your WEEKEND waterfront weather, fishing, and wildlife report for Friday May 29, 2026.

A beautiful but hot morning on the dock.  There is barely any breeze and it is from the west when there is one and that doesn't do us much good from a cooling perspective.

This mornings fishing was interrupted by NASA and a rocket launch that I caught in my video today!

🌤 Waterfront Weather Conditions

Time: 9 AM

Air Temperature: 78°F - high of 86

Humidity: 90%

Wind Direction & Speed: West at 0-4 MPH

Tide Stage: High at 9:30 AM and Low around 4:30 PM

Water Conditions: Calm, flat and CLEAR!

Lagoon Living Tip for the Day:

Plant native species whenever possible.

Native plants typically require less water, provide food and habitat for local wildlife, and help reduce fertilizer runoff that can eventually reach the Indian River Lagoon.

The Pelican Island Audubon society here has a great selection of native plants for sale and they will even give you 3 free trees just for coming by!

🎣 Fishing Activity & Wildlife Sightings

The water is so clear I just keep watching minnows, mullet, needlefish and all the rest swimming around.  There is a snook under the dock that is hitting on all the bait at times.

I saw grouchy the Great Blue Heron again today now just to the north of me.  The small Little blue is also around today.  Just 1 pelican out on the dock though.  They have been quiet lately.

🌊 Indian River Lagoon Spotlight

Featured Community Do-Gooder: The Pelican Island Conservation Society

As the nonprofit friends group supporting Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge, the Pelican Island Conservation Society helps promote conservation, environmental education, habitat protection, volunteer programs, and public awareness surrounding America's first national wildlife refuge.

Their work helps preserve one of the Treasure Coast's most remarkable ecological treasures while introducing new generations to the importance of protecting birds, fisheries, and lagoon habitats.

🏡 Sebastian & Vero Real Estate Suggestion of The Day

Visit a neighborhood at three different times before buying.

A street can feel completely different at 8 a.m., 2 p.m., and sunset. Traffic patterns, noise levels, dog walkers, boat activity, school pickup lines, and even afternoon shade can reveal things that don't show up during a showing.

Sebastian Florida Weather & Fishing Report – May 28, 2026 | Indian River Lagoon

Good Morning from Sebastian Florida

Good morning from the dock along the Indian River Lagoon in Sebastian, Florida. Here’s your daily waterfront weather, fishing, and wildlife report for Thursday May 28, 2026.

A bit of rain today as I make it to the boat house.  I came out a little later than usual getting sucked into the French Open on TV.  I love the major tennis tournaments.  It's going to be a soggy next 5-7 days according to the weather forecast.

🌤 Waterfront Weather Conditions

Time: 11 AM

Air Temperature: 85°F - high of 86

Humidity: 76%

Wind Direction & Speed: SE at 5-10 MPH

Tide Stage: High at 9 AM and Low around 4 PM

Water Conditions: Moderate clarity with light ripples on the surface with the wind speeds finally lower.

Lagoon Living Tip for the Day:

Keep a set of binoculars near the back door.

Life around the lagoon changes by the hour. Ospreys diving, manatees rolling, roseate spoonbills gliding through the shallows, dolphin wakes at sunrise… the show is constantly rotating.

🎣 Fishing Activity & Wildlife Sightings

Grouchy is back.  He's 1 dock over to the south today.

I also got a video of this Little blue heron feeding on the shore.  It snatches 2 fish from this Zen video.

🏡 Sebastian & Vero Real Estate Suggestion of The Day

A screened porch in Florida is practically another living room.

Outdoor living space can dramatically change how a home feels and functions, especially near the water where breezes, sunsets, and wildlife become part of daily life.

Sebastian Florida Weather & Fishing Report – May 27, 2026 | Indian River Lagoon

Good Morning from Sebastian Florida

Good morning from the dock along the Indian River Lagoon in Sebastian, Florida. Here’s your daily waterfront weather, fishing, and wildlife report for Wednesday March 27, 2026.

Today I'm onsite at the ORCA Center for Citizen Science down in Vero.  It's a beautiful morning here under this majestic Live Oak with a nice SE breeze keeping the bugs and the temperature down.

Check out the video for a full tour but here are some stills.

🌤 Waterfront Weather Conditions

Time: 3 PM

Air Temperature: 86°F

Humidity: 72%

Wind Direction & Speed: SE at 15-20 MPH

Tide Stage: High at 8 AM and Low around 3 PM

Water Conditions: Choppy with occasional white caps cresting.

Lagoon Living Tip for the Day:

Early mornings belong to the lagoon locals.

Sunrise often brings calmer water, more wildlife movement, cooler temperatures, and that glassy lagoon surface that makes Sebastian feel like Old Florida never left.

🎣 Fishing Activity & Wildlife Sightings

Todays wildlife was in a grouper taco on the way home from ORCA!  I found this great little place The Seaside Grill down in Vero on Ocean.  A great city park wraps around this place and there are guarded beached right over the dunes.  The grouper taco was great!

🏡 Sebastian & Vero Real Estate Suggestion of The Day

In Florida, insurance matters almost as much as the mortgage.

Before falling in love with a property, check estimated insurance costs, flood zone status, roof age, and wind mitigation features. Two homes with similar prices can carry very different monthly ownership costs.

Sebastian Florida Weather & Fishing Report – May 26, 2026 | Indian River Lagoon

Good Morning from Sebastian Florida

Good morning from the dock along the Indian River Lagoon in Sebastian, Florida. Here’s your daily waterfront weather, fishing, and wildlife report for Tuesday May 26, 2026.

I hope everyone had a nice and reflective Memorial Day.  I'd like to say thank you to those who have given their lives in the service of this country to allow us the life we live now.

🌤 Waterfront Weather Conditions

Time: 8AM

Air Temperature: 82°F - high of 86

Humidity: 81%

Wind Direction & Speed: SE at 10-15 MPH

Tide Stage: High at 7 AM and Low around 2 PM

Water Conditions: Choppy with occasional white caps cresting.

Lagoon Living Tip for the Day:

Spend a few minutes watching the shoreline at low tide.

Low water often reveals oyster bars, crab movement, bait concentrations, wading birds, and subtle changes in bottom contour that disappear at higher tides.

🎣 Fishing Activity & Wildlife Sightings

Pretty quiet on the dock today.  I just sat and took in the breeze doing some breathing exercises.  No fishing, no nets, just siting and enjoying the morning.

I do love my view of the sea grapes as I walk back off the dock.

🏡 Sebastian & Vero Real Estate Suggestion of The Day

Look at the lot almost as hard as you look at the house.

Sebastian Florida Weather & Fishing Report – May 25, 2026 | Indian River Lagoon

Good Morning from Sebastian Florida

Good morning from the dock along the Indian River Lagoon in Sebastian, Florida. Here’s your daily waterfront weather, fishing, and wildlife report for Monday May 25, 2026.

Today I'm not just fishing but catching.  Live action fish catching in the video today!  Not a great result but still, catching is catching.  Also caught a nice pinfish in the cast net.

🌤 Waterfront Weather Conditions

Time: 9:30 AM

Air Temperature: 82°F high of 86

Humidity: 75%

Wind Direction & Speed: SE at 10-15 MPH

Tide Stage: High at 6 AM and Low around 1:30 PM

Water Conditions: Choppy with occasional white caps cresting.

Lagoon Living Tip for the Day:

Look for oyster clusters and living shoreline areas.

Oysters help filter water and create habitat for small fish, crabs, and other lagoon life. Even spotting them from a dock can become a fun “lagoon health check.”

🎣 Fishing Activity & Wildlife Sightings

All the fishing is in the section above.  Not a lot of birds out but the winds are pretty brisk.

I did finish the sea grape reclamation project and here it is.  A bit more tidying up to do and there will be continuous maintenance but it looks way better.

🏡 Sebastian & Vero Real Estate Suggestion of The Day

Check the “five‑minute lifestyle radius.”

When showing homes, think beyond bedrooms and baths. What’s within five minutes? Boat ramps, parks, coffee spots, walking trails, marinas, kayak launches, local restaurants, and everyday errands often shape happiness more than another 150 square feet.

Sebastian Florida Weather & Fishing WEEKEND Report – May 22, 2026 | Indian River Lagoon - Friendship Park

Good Morning from Sebastian Florida

Good morning from Friendship Park in Sebastian, Florida. Here’s your WEEKEND waterfront weather, fishing, and wildlife report for Friday May 22, 2026.

Today is the first in a series where I'm off the dock and documenting the 22 parks that are listed on the Sebastian Parks and Rec page.

The amenities listed on the city site:  Friendship Park.

I plan on making my return tot he tennis court soon so this park has caught my interest recently.

🌤 Waterfront Weather Conditions

Time: 10:30 AM

Air Temperature: 82°F with a high of 83

Humidity: 77%

Wind Direction & Speed: SE at 10-15 MPH

Tide Stage: Low at 10:30 AM and High around 4 PM

Water Conditions: Slight ripple with good water clarity.

Lagoon Living Tip for the Day:

Keep an eye on the sky at sunset.

Cloud layers often become a natural forecast tool. High wispy clouds, building summer towers inland, or clear western skies can hint at changing weather and make evening dock time feel like a mini science class.

🎣 Fishing Activity & Wildlife Sightings

While at Friendship park today I got to investigate 3 gopher tortoise burrows.  You could feel cool air coming out from them when you get close!

🏡 Sebastian & Vero Real Estate Suggestion of The Day

Think about storage before you think about square footage.

A well-designed home with smart storage, garage space, pantry organization, and outdoor equipment areas can often live larger than a bigger house with less function.

Sebastian Florida Weather & Fishing Report – May 21, 2026 | Indian River Lagoon

Good Morning from Sebastian Florida

Good morning from the dock along the Indian River Lagoon in Sebastian, Florida. Here’s your daily waterfront weather, fishing, and wildlife report for Thursday May 21, 2026.

A beautiful morning down on the home dock.  The wind has shifted to the south east a bit today but it is still keeping things comfortable.

🌤 Waterfront Weather Conditions

Time: 10 AM

Air Temperature: 83°F - high of 85

Humidity: 76%

Wind Direction & Speed: South east at 7-10 MPH

Tide Stage: Low at 9:30 AM and High around 3 PM

Water Conditions: Choppy with occasional white caps cresting.

Lagoon Living Tip for the Day:

Carry a small trash bag on the boat.

Picking up even a few floating pieces of debris each trip helps keep plastics out of the lagoon and protects wildlife.

🎣 Fishing Activity & Wildlife Sightings

I fished for a half an hour or so.  No strikes on the shrimp pole but I did have a few shrimp absconded with.  I had a few strikes on the paddle tail in my first few casts but nothing after that.  Lady fish are jumping here and there.  I saw a big ray when I first got on the dock and the egret is on the shore.  I never see grouchy the blue heron any more.  I wonder if they migrate at all?

Sebastian Florida Weather & Fishing Report – May 20, 2026 | Indian River Lagoon - Field trip to Little Hollywood Marina for ORCA

Good Morning from Sebastian Florida

Good morning from the dock along the Indian River Lagoon in Sebastian, Florida. Here’s your daily waterfront weather, fishing, and wildlife report for Wednesday May 20, 2026.

I stared the morning at the Living Shoreline project that I volunteer for.  Look how beautiful it is right now!

Then I took off for some water quality sampling for ORCA at the Little Hollywood Marina.  That's todays video.  Then after doing down to Vero to do some lab work on the samples, I drove home on the beach and stopped at my favorite sandwich shop, Beach Bites, and took a stroll on the beach.  All by 1 PM!

🌤 Waterfront Weather Conditions

Time: 9:30 AM

Air Temperature: 82°F - high of 85

Humidity: 73%

Wind Direction & Speed: East at 10+ MPH

Tide Stage: High at 10:30 AM and Low around 5 PM

Water Conditions: I light chop on the San Sebastian river

General Observations:

A huge oyster bed is growing under the dock on the San Sebastian river.  The water is definitely high in tannins but it is also clear.  Surprisingly so I thought.

Lagoon Living Tip for the Day:

Create a small pollinator garden.

Native flowers help support bees, butterflies, and birds while reducing the need for fertilizers and irrigation.

🎣 Fishing Activity & Wildlife Sightings

Great news for the lagoon.  Seagrass is expanding!  Read on.....

Seagrass coverage in the Indian River Lagoon is experiencing a massive, natural rebound. Recent surveys by the St. Johns River Water Management District reveal that lagoon-wide seagrass increased by 72% between 2023 and 2025. This expansion covers roughly 13,000 football fields, marking a critical step in the waterway's ecological recovery. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Key Data & Recovery Metrics
  • Total Coverage: Reached 17,042 hectares (about 42,000 acres).
  • Recent Growth: Jumped from 9,924 hectares in 2023, representing a 72% increase in just two years.
  • Increased Density: Transect surveys show that the grass is not just spreading across a larger area, but getting thicker. The average length of seagrass shoots more than doubled during the same period.
  • Long-Term Deficit: Despite the massive gains, the lagoon is still about 47% short of its historical peaks recorded in 2007 and 2009. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Reasons for the Rebound
  • Water Quality Improvements: Clearer water—aided in part by multi-year drought conditions resulting in less polluted runoff—has allowed sunlight to reach the lagoon floor.
  • Targeted Cleanup Projects: Decades of localized restoration are finally paying off. Projects such as "muck" dredging, canal diversions, and septic-to-sewer conversions (like those funded by the Save Our Indian River Lagoon sales tax in Brevard County) have significantly reduced nutrient pollution entering the water. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Why It Matters
Seagrass is the foundation of the lagoon's food web. Its revival is already resulting in a noticeable return of crabs, baitfish, manatees, and dolphins. Since 75% of the fish species that anglers catch and eat spend a portion of their life cycle in these habitats, the expansion is vital for the local ecosystem and coastal economy. [1, 2, 3, 4]
For a closer look at what the latest data reveals about the lagoon's environmental comeback:

🏡 Sebastian & Vero Real Estate Suggestion of The Day

Check the orientation of outdoor spaces.

A backyard that catches the afternoon sun may feel very different from one that enjoys morning light and evening shade. In Florida, sun exposure can influence comfort, landscaping, and energy use.
