Sebastian Florida Weather & Fishing Report – March 16, 2026 | Indian River Lagoon

Good Morning from Sebastian Florida

Good morning from the dock along the Indian River Lagoon in Sebastian, Florida. Here’s your daily waterfront weather, fishing, and wildlife report for Monday March 13, 2026.

A strong southern breeze today and you can feel the moisture in the air.  This trade wind is carrying moisture up the entire eastern seaboard and a cold front from the west is making record breaking show in the mid west.  Sorry!  But it's going to change here tonight into tomorrow too.  For a day or so.

It's spring break season in south Florida.  Sebastian is not a hot spot for the college kids, a few hours south is another story, but there are certainly more people around and many with high school aged kids.

🌤 Waterfront Weather Conditions

Air Temperature: 73°F
Wind Direction & Speed: South at 15-20 MPH
Tide Stage: High at 9 AM
Water Clarity: Cloudy from all the wind
Overall Conditions: Choppy with occasional white caps cresting.  A south wind is always our warmest wind.

🎣 Fishing Activity & Wildlife Sightings

With all the wind things are pretty quiet.  I threw the cast net 6 times and only caught 1  pinfish.  I did see some mullet jumping but they are bigger now and don't seem to hide under our dock as much.

I had 1 pole in the water with a dead shrimp on it and I never got any action I could detect.  Lost some shrimp but that's OK.

On my casting pole I have a jig that one of my neighbors here made me last October.  I tip it with a piece of shrimp and I did get 1 decent hit on it close to the dock.  Seemed like a jack or ladyfish.  Something dart fast with teeth!

🌊 Indian River Lagoon Insight

It's amazing how different the lagoon is every day.  The water level in the lagoon, the clarity, the wind speed and direction, etc.  One of the great things about lagoon life is that it is different all the time if you watch it.  The beach is pretty much the beach every day.  And I'm glad for that so when I want some beach time I can go get some but I love watching the river change daily.  Endlessly fascinating to me.

🏡 Sebastian & Vero Beach Real Estate Update

Inventory levels are steady, and well-positioned homes continue to move quickly when priced appropriately.  There is plenty of inventory and only slight price reductions seen in the market.  Days on market is a more traditional 75 than the hyper markets we have had in the past few years.

Sebastian Florida Weather & Fishing WEEKEND Report – March 14, 2026 | Indian River Lagoon

Good Morning from Sebastian Florida

Good morning from the dock along the Indian River Lagoon in Sebastian, Florida. Here’s your WEEKEND waterfront weather, fishing, and wildlife report for Saturday March 14, 2026.

The breeze is still storing and unwavering from the East.  I had some good luck with the cast net this morning!  A snook and also some pinfish.  I put them all back.

I was chatting with one of my paddle boarding neighbors and was asking about dolphin and she confirmed she hasn't seen many in the past few weeks either.  Of course as we discussed this we did see a pod of 4-5 across the river on the backside of the spoil island.  The water is more protected there from the chop and the clarity is also higher.  Dolphin do possess sonar to locate objects but they are also visual predators and being able to see has to be preferred.  At least I would think so.

🌤 Waterfront Weather Conditions

Air Temperature: 76°F
Wind Direction & Speed: East at 20-30 MPH
Tide Stage: dropping to low around 1 PM
Water Clarity: Cloudy with lots of red algae
Overall Conditions: Like a washing machine.  Periodic waves from the wind.

🎣 Fishing Activity & Wildlife Sightings

🌊 Indian River Lagoon Insight

The weather is beautiful even with some clod cover and the strong winds.  I wasn't going offshore fishing today anyway!  A good way to get outside is to go to the backside of the barrier island if you are boating or maybe go to Pelican Island.  Hopefully the link to Pelican Island is below.

Sebastian Florida Weather & Fishing Report – March 13, 2026 | Indian River Lagoon

Good Morning from Sebastian Florida

Good morning from the dock along the Indian River Lagoon in Sebastian, Florida. Here’s your daily waterfront weather, fishing, and wildlife report for Friday March 13, 2026.  Eeeek and scary noises.

The onshore breeze just wont quit!  Sometimes it shifts to the southeast but always east and sometimes only east.  Really churning the lagoon up.  I haven't seen dolphin in 2 weeks.  I'm not sure if it is related to the water quality or if the mullet have moved?  I haven't caught a mullet in some time from the dock.

🌤 Waterfront Weather Conditions

Air Temperature: 76°F
Wind Direction & Speed: SouthEast at 15-20 MPH
Tide Stage: dropping to low at 1 PM
Water Clarity: Cloudy and lots of floating red algae washing up on the beach!
Overall Conditions: Constant chop and sometimes actual waves.

🎣 Fishing Activity & Wildlife Sightings

The birds are busy from osprey to pelicans to seagulls.  Driving on bait fish all over the lagoon.  The lagoon seems to be brimming with life.  I haven't had much luck fishing lately but I did have 1 good strike today that snapped my line, or I poorly tied my knot.  Bummer.

🌊 Indian River Lagoon Insight

SPRING HAS SPRUNG!  I'm starting to see all kinds of regrowth in plants that were zapped by our freeze.  There is still a lot of brown around though.

Sebastian Florida Weather & Fishing Report – March 12, 2026 | Indian River Lagoon

Good Morning from Sebastian Florida

Good morning from the dock along the Indian River Lagoon in Sebastian, Florida. Here’s your daily waterfront weather, fishing, and wildlife report for Thursday March 12, 2026.

Man is it hot and still in the morning!  Early in the day when the land and the water are the same temp the winds don't blow.  As the day gets going that changes and produces onshore winds that are a life saver in Florida.  This is all in absence of fronts blowing through but the normal hydrological cycle of the area.  Yes, this is a repeat of yesterday!

🌤 Waterfront Weather Conditions

Air Temperature: 81°F
Wind Direction & Speed: SouthEast at 0-2 MPH
Tide Stage: dropping to low at 12:30 AM
Water Clarity: Clear with all the calm.
Overall Conditions: Like a bath tub

🎣 Fishing Activity & Wildlife Sightings

The birds are busy from osprey to pelicans to seagulls.  The lagoon seems to be brimming with life.  All of the tiny bait fish have gotten larger and the predators have moved in.

My buddy on the dock this morning caught a sea trout which I didn't get to see.  We used to have lots of those in here but they are fairly rare any more.  They like grass beds and those have shrunk substantially in the lagoon over the past years.  There are many trying to bring them back and hopefully the corner has been turned and we'll see more and more seagrass.

🌊 Indian River Lagoon Insight

It's going to get a bit soggy for the weekend and the clouds are moving in.  A 20% chance of rain this afternoon and then we get up into the 60-70% range.  We can use the rain so bring it on.  Hopefully it will help some of the freeze damaged foliage to green up!

Sebastian Florida Weather & Fishing Report – March 11, 2026 | Indian River Lagoon

Good Morning from Sebastian Florida

Good morning from the dock along the Indian River Lagoon in Sebastian, Florida. Here’s your daily waterfront weather, fishing, and wildlife report for Wednesday March 11, 2026.

Man is it hot and still in the morning!  Early in the day when the land and the water are the same temp the winds don't blow.  As the day gets going that changes and produces onshore winds that are a life saver in Florida.  This is all in absence of fronts blowing through but the normal hydrological cycle of the area.

My buddy was on the dock this AM and was using greenies for bait and said he had 1 HUGE strike that he wasn't paying attention to but that about bent his pole in half for a minute.  It seems like the bait fish have gotten bigger and snook and redfish seems to be around more looking for something to snack on.

I tell you who was snacking this AM.  The fabled no-see-ums (Ceratopognidae - biting midges)!  They ran me off the dock in 20 minutes.  I'll wait until the wind kicks up to go back down and do some fishing later today.

🌤 Waterfront Weather Conditions

Air Temperature: 76°F
Wind Direction & Speed: SouthEast at 0-2 MPH
Tide Stage: dropping to low at 11 AM
Water Clarity: Clear with all the calm.
Overall Conditions: Like a bath tub

🎣 Fishing Activity & Wildlife Sightings

Today I filed something I've never seen before.  A stingray swimming at the surface of the water.  I could see the wing flopping in the water far out and it slowly came closer.  That's when I whipped out my new Galaxy 10XL, send checks for this ad to...., and caught this strange behavior on tape.

The birds are busy from osprey to pelicans to seagulls.  The lagoon seems to be brimming with life.

🌊 Indian River Lagoon Insight

All my plants are coming to life too.  I have ripe tomatoes growing, my dragon fruit plant has sprung to life and even the poor shrubs that were almost killed by our freeze have new leaves.  The live Oak trees are also popping with pollen!  SPRING HAS SPRUNG!

Sebastian Florida Weather & Fishing Report – March 10, 2026 | Indian River Lagoon

Good Afternoon from Sebastian Florida

Good morning from the dock along the Indian River Lagoon in Sebastian, Florida. Here’s your daily waterfront weather, fishing, and wildlife report for Tuesday March 10, 2026.

I made it down here at 8 AM, 3 PM, and now 6PM.  The 6 PM slot is the video.  I'll give you the breakdown of the whole day.  I came down early this AM to do my laundry and fish.  Then I got a call and I was off to show 5 houses in Sebastian.  The water was so still it looked like a glass of water this AM and you could tell it was going to be hot.

Then I showed houses and made it back at 3 to do the above laundry and fish.  Caught a nice catfish which is always fun.  They fight pretty well and are fun fish!  The breeze has kicked up to 10 - 15 MPH from the east by now and the chop is real.

At 6 when I came back the temperature had lowered and the breeze was refreshing.  Beautiful tonight.

_______________________________________________________________________________________________

🌤 Waterfront Weather Conditions

Air Temperature: 74°F at 8 AM, 86°F at 3 PM, 84°F at 6 PM
Wind Direction & Speed: Dead calm, 10 MPG from the east, 15 MPH from the east
Tide Stage: high and low!
Water Clarity: Cloudy with all the wind
Overall Conditions: Breezy, choppy surface, besides this AM that was dead flat

🎣 Fishing Activity & Wildlife Sightings

The osprey were very busy today.  Gliding on the wind like vultures but not quiet like vultures.  They get down right noisy!  Lots of seagulls in the video eating blood and guts.

Lots of glass minnows and mullet jumping.  I caught 1 catfish on some dead shrimp.

🌊 Indian River Lagoon Insight

A full 3 phase view of the river today.  From dead flat and calm in the AM.  To darn hot by mid day and finally windy and cool later.  Perfect lagoon life weather!

🏡 Sebastian & Vero Beach Real Estate Update

The real estate market in Sebastian and Vero Beach remains balanced overall. Inventory levels are steady, and well-positioned homes continue to move quickly when priced appropriately.

I showed 5 houses today that were around 1800 SF, 3 bedrooms with pools under screen and they were all under 400k.  10 min from the lagoon and 20 min from the beach.  Not bad!

Sebastian Florida Weather & Fishing Report – March 9, 2026 | Indian River Lagoon

Good Morning from Sebastian Florida

Good morning from the dock along the Indian River Lagoon in Sebastian, Florida. Here’s your daily waterfront weather, fishing, and wildlife report for Monday March 9, 2026.

The wind is gone this AM and it is still and hot already.  It feels like summer.  I assume the winds will pick up as the day gets along but with the change of time the sun hasn't been up as long to create differential temperatures in the water and land which is what drives our daily winds here.

🌤 Waterfront Weather Conditions

Air Temperature: 76°F - Heading towards mid 80s later today
Wind Direction & Speed: Calm to south at 2 MPH
Tide Stage: dropping to low
Water Clarity: Very clear due to the winds form the south later yesterday.  And incredibly shallow!
Overall Conditions: Calm and hot.

🎣 Fishing Activity & Wildlife Sightings

The birds were out having breakfast and lots of glass minnows in the water.  I saw a few mullet jumping and by the time I left the pelicans were diving on the banquet.  No time for fishing this morning as I'm worn out after my weekend and am going to spend some time chilling this morning.  Maybe this afternoon when I come down to do some laundry?

🏡 Sebastian & Vero Beach Real Estate Update

The real estate market in Sebastian and Vero Beach remains balanced overall. Inventory levels are steady, and well-positioned homes continue to move quickly when priced appropriately.

For the open house today I had 6 visitors in 3 hours.  Pretty typical of the market here.  Grandparents wanting to move closer to grandkids.  Snow birds tired of the snow.  I did have 1 local family with 3 kids looking for a bigger house.

Sebastian Florida Weather & Fishing WEEKEND Report – March 7, 2026 | Indian River Lagoon

Good Morning from Sebastian Florida

Good morning from the dock along the Indian River Lagoon in Sebastian, Florida. Here’s your daily waterfront weather, fishing, and wildlife report for Saturday March 7, 2026.

Today is going to be something different and it is a tour of the house I'm hosting an open house at today.    5648 Riverboat Circle in Sebastian, FL 32958.  The house is a 4 bedroom 3 full bath home on a 1/4 acre.  2500 SF with a pool with lanai and a water front lot of the neighborhood pond.

This is a classic floor plan where you come in the front door and are greeted by a pass through den that opens to the pool.  Owners bedroom wraps around to the right.  Living room and additional bedrooms form the left part of the horse shoe that wraps around why you live here.  The screened pool!  That's FL lifestyle and you can have that here and still only be 10 minutes from the lagoon and 15 from the beach.  All for $610,000.  Not bad for Florida!

🌤 Waterfront Weather Conditions

Air Temperature: 71°F
Wind Direction & Speed: East at 15-20 MPH
Tide Stage: dropping to low
Water Clarity: Cloudy due to high winds
Overall Conditions: Breezy & wavy surface,

🎣 Fishing Activity & Wildlife Sightings

I ran down to the dock before my started and the high winds were already howling.  No off shore fishing for my friends today.  Sorry.

🌊 Indian River Lagoon Insight

Today was nice to catch out some Vero Beach action and see some of the housing options down there.  I was struck by how much undeveloped land there still is around here.  The county is trying to proceed carefully but you can see the growth coming.  New roads running beside 50 acre cattle and vegetable farms.  That never last unfortunately.

Sebastian Florida Weather & Fishing Report – March 6, 2026 | Indian River Lagoon

Good Morning from Sebastian Florida

Good morning from the dock along the Indian River Lagoon in Sebastian, Florida. Here’s your daily waterfront weather, fishing, and wildlife report for Friday March 6, 2026.

This morning the video is silent.  Just peace and serenity to start the day while absorbing the sun rays to power up!  That's part of Lagoon lifestyle.

🌤 Waterfront Weather Conditions

Air Temperature: 72°F
Wind Direction & Speed: South East at 5 - 10 MPH
Tide Stage: high tide around noon
Water Clarity: Clearer than when the wind is due East
Overall Conditions: Light chop - off shore is still unfishable

A warm low 70 this AM.  The south east winds have brought in ocean moisture so its a bit muggy but that humidity keeps the mornings warm.  We are going to be mid 80s and low 70s for the next week it looks like.

🎣 Fishing Activity & Wildlife Sightings

Grouchy was out as well as many of the other herons and egrets.  I watched a sting ray swimming the shore for 5 min.  It settled into the sand and completely covered itself with silt in under 1 min.  Invisible and then it burst out to attack some small fish.

Because they burrow when walking in the water it is always better to shuffle your feet than step.  The shuffle scares off stuff down there.  Big steps get stung!

🌊 Indian River Lagoon Insight

A beautiful morning this AM.  I just sat quietly for 10 min on a bench and watched the clouds and the sun rise higher in the sky.  The breeze keeps me perfectly pleasant temperature wise.  Living here requires me to be on the water.  It is the only way to live here in the summer.  Stay on the water!

🏡 Sebastian & Vero Beach Real Estate Update

The real estate market in Sebastian and Vero Beach remains balanced overall. Inventory levels are steady, and well-positioned homes continue to move quickly when priced appropriately.

I'm hosting a great open house tomorrow morning down in Vero.  A new 600k listing on a lake with a pool under a lanai.  I'll report back on traffic.

Sebastian Florida Weather & Fishing Report – March 5, 2026 | Indian River Lagoon

Good Morning from Sebastian Florida

Good late morning from the dock along the Indian River Lagoon in Sebastian, Florida. Here’s your daily waterfront weather, fishing, and wildlife report for Thursday 5, 2026.

Back on the home dock today with some fun still photos to mix in.  I caught a ladyfish in my cast net today and that's a first!

🌤 Waterfront Weather Conditions

Air Temperature: 75°F
Wind Direction & Speed: SouthEast at 10 - 15 MPH
Tide Stage: Dead low - 11:15 AM
Water Clarity: Getting cloudier
Overall Conditions: Breezy, choppy surface, sounds of waves on the leward beach.

It's starting to feel a bit like summer.  The humidity has jumped, there are clouds in the sky and every day has a 20 per cent chance of rain.

🎣 Fishing Activity & Wildlife Sightings

Today I had 2 catches in my cast net.

1 - The greeneis are getting bigger.  They are twice the size they were 3 weeks ago.

I also caught a ladyfish today and that's the first time I've caught one here.  They are frequently called the poor mans tarpon as if you catch them on a line they fight like beasts!

🌊 Indian River Lagoon Insight

Another beautiful day on the Indian River.  It's always fun to catch something new as all I really want to know is - "What's out there?"

🏡 Sebastian & Vero Beach Real Estate Update

The real estate market in Sebastian and Vero Beach remains balanced overall. Inventory levels are steady, and well-positioned homes continue to move quickly when priced appropriately.

The great thing about this area is you can still come down here and live in paradise for even under 200k  There is also @M and up!.  There are lots of unusual ways to own property here and in the future I'll go more into some of the manufactured home options available and whether you own the dirt under them.
