Well I'm still on the road today and I wound up close to where I was yesterday except now I'm at the Kissimmee River which is the primary water input into Lake Okeechobee.

This park is closed in conjunction with the restoration of the Kissimmee River. In the 1960s the US Army Corps of Engineers straightened the 103 mile long river into a straight 56 mile drainage ditch knows as C-38. Starting in the late 1990s this process has being being undone! Thousands of acres of land have been acquired, damns taken down and floodplain reestablished!

If you are in the area stop at the Okeechobee Fish Company. Local catfish and lots of delicious seafood plus gator and frog legs!

The Okee-Tantie Marina where I stopped.      A dead threadfin armored catfish.  Yikes!

Lunch is served at a local Okeechobee meat and 3. I got catfish fingers, fried okra and green beans!
