All I can say is that there is a man in a kayak on my street.  He pulled up to help the lady who owns this car that is now toast get her stuff out of the car.  It all happened in under 3 hours!

Lagoon Living Tip of the Day:

Lagoon Living Tip: Let Dolphins Stay Wild

Seeing dolphins along the Indian River Lagoon is one of the great pleasures of living here. But feeding them, even with leftover bait, can teach them to approach boats and fishing lines, increasing their risk of injury. Feeding wild dolphins is also illegal.

Give dolphins room to hunt naturally. NOAA recommends watching from at least 50 yards away, and anglers should reel in their lines when dolphins approach.

Today’s tip: The best dolphin encounter is one that leaves the dolphin behaving like a dolphin.

Wildlife & Nature

Today I saw a fish jump from the water and that was in the middle of my street!

Here are a few other flood videos I shot.  1 is of a gang of raoches floating to safety on a flip flop.

Indian River County Do-Gooder: Shining Light Garden

In Vero Beach, Shining Light Garden turns local soil into fresh food for neighbors who need it. Founded by Joel Bray in 2008, this volunteer-powered nonprofit has grown from a backyard project into a farm of more than 20 acres.

Its vegetables go to food pantries, soup kitchens, veterans’ organizations and senior programs. The garden also grows flowers for hospice patients. Its guiding model is simple: volunteer labor, donated support and produce given away rather than sold.

Why it matters: Food security is part of a healthy community. Volunteers can help plant, tend and harvest the next crop.

Lagoon Lifestyle & Real Estate

Real Estate Tip: Ask About a Wind-Mitigation Inspection

A home’s roof shape, roof-to-wall connections and storm-rated openings can affect its Florida homeowners insurance premium. A qualified wind-mitigation inspection documents eligible protective features and may help buyers or owners receive insurance discounts.

Florida introduced an updated uniform wind-mitigation inspection form effective April 1, 2026. Reports can generally remain valid for up to five years if the structure has not materially changed and the report is accurate.

Today’s tip: Before buying a Sebastian or Vero Beach home, ask for any existing wind-mitigation report and have your insurance agent confirm which credits apply.
