Sebastian Florida Weather & Fishing Report – May 6, 2026 | Indian River Lagoon

Good Morning from Sebastian Florida

Good morning from the dock along the Indian River Lagoon in Sebastian, Florida. Here’s your daily waterfront weather, fishing, and wildlife report for Wednesday May 8, 2026.

Back home on my dock this AM.  It's warm this AM with a slight SE breeze.  Summer is coming!

🌤 Waterfront Weather Conditions

Time: 8:30 AM

Air Temperature: 73°F - going to be 82

Humidity: 88%

Wind Direction & Speed: SE at 5-10 MPH

Tide Stage: Low at 8:30 AM and High around 1:45 PM

Water Clarity: Clear and calm

Water Conditions: Like a bathtub when I arrived.  The winds picked up a bit and have started some ripples.

General Observations:

Man winter camp is over.  Nobody is down on the water any more.

Lagoon Living Tip for the Day:

Use phosphate-free products whenever possible.

Fertilizers and soaps containing phosphates can contribute to algae blooms and poor water quality in the lagoon. Small household choices can make a meaningful impact over time.

🎣 Fishing Activity & Wildlife Sightings

I threw the cast net 5 times and didn't catch anything.  I see glass minnows and needlefish but it is so calm it seems like things are quiet.  Like yesterday I hooked a fish on my first cast and today I caught the catfish below on my first cast. No other bits the rest of the time!

I did see something cute today.  3 ducks were flying over head when 1 peeled off and went back in the direction they came and then 3-4 minutes later that single duck returned with a companion in the air.  It's like 1 went back and got its buddy who missed the first take off.

🌊 Indian River Lagoon Spotlight

Featured Organization: Brevard Zoo's Restore Our Shores

Restore Our Shores, a conservation program led by Brevard Zoo, focuses on oyster reef restoration and shoreline protection throughout the Indian River Lagoon. Volunteers help build oyster mats and living shorelines that naturally improve water quality and create habitat for marine life.

The program is a great example of hands-on local conservation making a measurable difference.

🏡 Sebastian & Vero Real Estate Suggestion of The Day

Pay attention to wind mitigation features.

In Florida, features like impact windows, hurricane shutters, reinforced garage doors, and newer roofing materials can lower insurance costs and improve storm protection.

Sebastian Florida Weather & Fishing Report – May 5, 2026 | Indian River Lagoon

Good Morning from Sebastian Florida

Good morning from the dock along the Indian River Lagoon in Sebastian, Florida. Here’s your daily waterfront weather, fishing, and wildlife report for Tuesday May 5, 2026.

A pretty morning with the winds light to start the day.  They will pick up as the day goes on but the humidity has returned and there's no where to go but towards summer from here.

🌤 Waterfront Weather Conditions

Time: 10:30 AM

Air Temperature: 74°F

Humidity: 82%

Wind Direction & Speed: East at 2-5 MPH

Tide Stage: Low at 7:30 AM and High around 1 PM

Water Clarity: Clear

Water Conditions: Clear and calm but it will get wind whipped as the day goes on.

General Observations:

Boat traffic is steady on the river but during the summer months it is certainly lower during the week.  We still get lots of people coming to Sebastian in the summer but more on the weekends to come fishing.  Sunday on the stirp is busy all summer long as the Melbourne and surrounding Harley crowd rolls into Earl's etc.

Lagoon Living Tip for the Day:

Secure loose items before storms or strong winds.

Outdoor furniture, kayaks, and dock gear can quickly become hazards during sudden weather changes. A few minutes of prep can prevent damage to your property—and your neighbors’.

🎣 Fishing Activity & Wildlife Sightings

I caught my first invasive species.  This is the pond across from the restaurant and on my first cast I hooked a fish.  Didn't land it but on the 6th or 7th cast I caught this Nile Tilapia!

🌊 Indian River Lagoon Spotlight

Featured Organization: One Lagoon

One Lagoon is a collaborative nonprofit initiative focused on raising awareness and funding for the long-term restoration of the Indian River Lagoon. They bring together scientists, local leaders, and the community to highlight solutions and drive action.

Their storytelling and outreach help connect residents directly to the health of the lagoon—and what can be done to protect it.

🏡 Sebastian & Vero Real Estate Suggestion of The Day

Check rental and HOA restrictions before you buy.

If there’s any chance you’ll rent the property—seasonally or long-term—review HOA rules and local ordinances. Some communities limit rentals or require minimum lease periods.

Sebastian Florida Weather & Fishing Report – May 4, 2026 | Indian River Lagoon

Good Morning from Sebastian Florida

Good morning from the dock along the Indian River Lagoon in Sebastian, Florida. Here’s your daily waterfront weather, fishing, and wildlife report for Monday May 4, 2026.

The wind is back.  Considering I've been working outside a good bit, I'm OK with it.  Saturday almost killed me working outside in 90+ degree temps.  Much better today as far as I'm concerned.

🌤 Waterfront Weather Conditions

Time: 9 AM

Air Temperature: 73°F - high of 77

Humidity: 80%

Wind Direction & Speed: Northeast at 15+ MPH

Tide Stage: Low at 7 AM and High around 12:30 PM

Water Clarity: Cloudy from all the wind

Water Conditions: Choppy with occasional white caps cresting.

General Observations:

This fish are hiding but a few osprey are diving on them over me!

Lagoon Living Tip for the Day:

Use native plants in your landscaping.

Native vegetation requires less fertilizer and watering, which helps reduce nutrient runoff into the lagoon and supports local wildlife.

🎣 Fishing Activity & Wildlife Sightings

Just birds today.  Mainly the 2 Osprey pictured above.

🌊 Indian River Lagoon Spotlight

Featured Organization: The Indian River Lagoon Council

The Indian River Lagoon Council is a coalition of local governments and stakeholders working together to fund and implement projects that improve water quality and restore the lagoon. Through grants and regional collaboration, they help turn restoration plans into real, measurable action.

Their work supports everything from septic-to-sewer conversions to habitat restoration—making a long-term impact on lagoon health.

🏡 Sebastian & Vero Real Estate Suggestion of The Day

Check the age and condition of big-ticket items.

Roofs, HVAC systems, and seawalls (if waterfront) can be major expenses. Knowing their age and remaining lifespan helps you avoid surprises and strengthens your negotiating position.

Sebastian Florida Weather & Fishing WEEKEND Report – May 2, 2026 | Indian River Lagoon

Good Morning from Sebastian Florida

Good morning from the dock along the Indian River Lagoon in Sebastian, Florida. Here’s your daily waterfront weather, fishing, and wildlife WEEKEND report for Saturday May 2, 2026.

A beautiful morning on the dock filled with lots of fishing fun.  A full moon will rise over the lagoon tonight and here a sneak peak as I'm posting this after it occurred!  Time machine.

🌤 Waterfront Weather Conditions

Time: 8:30 AM

Air Temperature: 72°F - high of 90 expected!

Humidity: 85%

Wind Direction & Speed: SW at 8 MPH

Tide Stage: High at 11:15 AM and Low around 6 PM

Water Clarity: Clear and low

General Observations:

What are these pieces of jelly fish I catch on my cast net?

Lagoon Living Tip for the Day:

Watch the tides before planning your day on the water.

Tides affect everything—from boating depth to fishing success. Learning local tide patterns helps you stay safe and make the most of your time on the lagoon.

🎣 Fishing Activity & Wildlife Sightings

I did catch some mullet in my cast net and I also photographed 2 Osprey sitting in an Australian pine next to the dock.

🌊 Indian River Lagoon Spotlight

Featured Organization: Pelican Island Conservation Society

The Pelican Island Conservation Society supports conservation efforts around the Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge, the first national wildlife refuge in the United States. Their work focuses on protecting habitat, supporting education, and preserving one of the most important ecosystems connected to the Indian River Lagoon.

They’re a great example of how local stewardship helps protect wildlife and maintain the natural beauty that draws people to the lagoon.

🏡 Sebastian & Vero Real Estate Suggestion of The Day

Understand dock and seawall permitting before you buy.

Not all waterfront properties are equal—some docks or seawalls may be non-compliant or restricted from future repairs. Always verify permits and regulations with local authorities.

Sebastian Florida Weather & Fishing Report – May 1, 2026 | Indian River Lagoon

Good Morning from Sebastian Florida

Good morning from the dock along the Indian River Lagoon in Sebastian, Florida. Here’s your daily waterfront weather, fishing, and wildlife report for Friday May 1, 2026.

Man is it getting quiet around here.  The snowbirds are leaving and I don't mean white pelicans.  I mean the Northeast residents that have been down here with us this winter.  They go back home for the cooler summers and reduced hurricane risk but they'll be back again next year.

Grouper season opens today so the marina was busy this morning.  Most of those guys end up 150 miles off shore to not just catch grouper but to be able to get them back in the boat before a shark eats them on the way up.

🌤 Waterfront Weather Conditions

Time: 8:30 AM

Air Temperature: 72°F - High of 88 today

Humidity: 92%

Wind Direction & Speed: West at 6-10 MPH, changing to East later

Tide Stage: High at 10:30 AM and Low around 5:30 PM

Water Clarity: Clear as it gets on the leeward side of the lagoon.

Water Conditions: Calm and clear

General Observations:

Here is a fun tourism video the Chamber of Commerce recently did on tourism in the area.  A friend of mine from Chozen is early on in the reel too!

Lagoon Living Tip for the Day:

Be mindful of outdoor lighting near the water.

Bright shoreline lighting can disrupt wildlife, especially nesting sea turtles and fish behavior. Using shielded, warm-toned lights helps protect the natural rhythm of the lagoon.

🎣 Fishing Activity & Wildlife Sightings

A nice cormorant sitting on a piling across the dock from me this morning.  You can tell the Cormorant from the Anhinga because the Cormorant has a curved beak.  The Anhinga's is perfectly straight.

Also some snook I tried to capture on the dock this AM.

🏡 Sebastian & Vero Beach Real Estate Suggestion of The Day

Look beyond the house—study the neighborhood trends.

A great home in a declining area can struggle to hold value, while an average home in an improving neighborhood can outperform expectations. Check nearby development, infrastructure projects, and overall upkeep.

Sebastian Florida Weather & Fishing Report – April 30, 2026 | Indian River Lagoon

Good Morning from Sebastian Florida

Good morning from the dock along the Indian River Lagoon in Sebastian, Florida. Here’s your daily waterfront weather, fishing, and wildlife report for Thursday April 30, 2026.

Another beautiful calm morning from the dock of Sebastian Saltwater.  The wind is out of the SW today and that means we are still and going to be warm.  Ehhhhh.  Come on sea breeze!

🌤 Waterfront Weather Conditions

Time: 11 AM

Air Temperature: 78°F

Humidity: 69%

Wind Direction & Speed: Southwest at 5 MPH

Tide Stage: High at 10 AM and Low around 5 PM

Water Clarity: Clear and pretty

Water Conditions: Calm and will remain so all day today with the SW wind.

General Observations:

We had an exciting day at the restaurant yesterday.  Check out the video below of the gang from Just In Time boat and jet ski rentals carefully get a hold a pelican with a hook and fishing line in its wing.  They removed it and the pelican is in good health today.  A bit gun shy still but that will come.

Lagoon Living Tip for the Day:

Install a rain barrel to reduce runoff.

Capturing rainwater not only helps conserve water, but it also reduces the amount of nutrient-rich runoff flowing into the lagoon—helping protect water quality.

🎣 Fishing Activity & Wildlife Sightings

🏡 Sebastian & Vero Beach Real Estate Suggestion of The Day

Pay attention to lot elevation and drainage.

Even within the same neighborhood, slight elevation differences can affect how water moves during heavy rains. A well-draining lot can save you from future headaches, especially in Florida’s rainy season.

Sebastian Florida Weather & Fishing Report – April 29, 2026 | Indian River Lagoon

Good Morning from Sebastian Florida

Good morning from the dock along the Indian River Lagoon in Sebastian, Florida. Here’s your daily waterfront weather, fishing, and wildlife report for Wednesday April 29, 2026.

Another morning from the dock at Sebastian Saltwater.  Its another beautiful day in Sebastian.  The breeze hasn't kicked in yet so it's pretty warm but that will change soon.

🌤 Waterfront Weather Conditions

Time: 9:00 AM

Air Temperature: 77°F

Humidity: 60%

Wind Direction & Speed: East at 2-3 MPH

Tide Stage: High at 9:30 AM and Low around 4 PM

Water Clarity: Clear

Water Conditions: Clear and calm this morning.  The winds will kick up out of the east later today though.

General Observations:

A beautiful morning.  A few folks getting their boats gassed up and the cut is busy with traffic.  Spring snook are in the river too and a waitress at Sebastian Saltwater showed me a 35' snook she and her boyfriend caught yesterday.

Lagoon Living Tip for the Day:

Rinse boats and gear with fresh water after use.

Saltwater is tough on equipment. A quick rinse after each outing helps extend the life of your boat, fishing gear, and dock hardware.

🎣 Fishing Activity & Wildlife Sightings

Lots of bait fish in the water this AM which keeps the pelicans and shore birds busy.  I didn't see any snook this AM but they are around.  I did see a dead sea trout floating.  Bummer.

🏡 Sebastian & Vero Beach Real Estate Suggestion of The Day

Check flood zones and insurance costs early.

In coastal areas, a home’s flood zone can significantly impact your monthly expenses. Even homes that have never flooded may still require insurance depending on their designation.

Sebastian Florida Weather & Fishing Report – April 28, 2026 | Indian River Lagoon

Good Morning from Sebastian Florida

Good morning from the dock along the Indian River Lagoon in Sebastian, Florida. Here’s your daily waterfront weather, fishing, and wildlife report for Tuesday April 28, 2026.

A little bit of a filed trip today.  The report is being filed from the dock at Sebastian Saltwater marina.  An adult and juvenile pelican keeping close eye on the fish cleaning station.

🌤 Waterfront Weather Conditions

Time: 10:30 AM

Air Temperature: 76°F

Humidity: 75%

Wind Direction & Speed: NE at 0-2 MPH

Tide Stage: High at 10:30 AM and Low around 5 PM

Water Clarity: Clear and calm

Water Conditions: Calm and clear

General Observations:

I enjoy looking across the water to the A1A bridge that spans the cut.  It's so close.  I want to connect the mainland to the park right over there!  Check todays video.

Lagoon Living Tip for the Day:

Use phosphorus-free fertilizer near the water.

Excess nutrients like phosphorus can run off into the lagoon and fuel harmful algae blooms. Choosing lagoon-friendly fertilizers helps protect water quality.

🎣 Fishing Activity & Wildlife Sightings

Just hanging with the pelicans today but I did see a big snook hit some bait as I was walking of the dock.  Gulp!

🏡 Sebastian & Vero Beach Real Estate Suggestion of The Day

Look at the direction a home faces.

The orientation of a home affects natural light, heat, and even energy bills—especially in Florida. West-facing homes get intense afternoon sun, while east-facing homes enjoy cooler mornings.

Sebastian Florida Weather & Fishing Report – April 27, 2026 | Indian River Lagoon

Good Morning from Sebastian Florida

Good morning from the dock along the Indian River Lagoon in Sebastian, Florida. Here’s your daily waterfront weather, fishing, and wildlife report for Monday April 27, 2026.

Man, its amazing how much the micro weather changes every day.  It may be partly cloudy and 78 all day but the way the wind blows here determines comfort.  All day Sunday it was out of the west and that doesn't hit us on the lagoon and it is "hot as hades", as I believe I said at one point at the restaurant.

Then at 5 PM the wind changed 180 degrees and has stayed that way until now.  It seems like summer may have blown in.  The air is heavy and it's coming.  The summer humidity.  Contrary to popular belief it doesn't get much hotter here in the summer but the humidity does rise and stay there.  Knowing where there is a breeze becomes a mandatory year round Floridian skil!

🌤 Waterfront Weather Conditions

Time: 10 AM

Air Temperature: 76°F

Humidity: 78%

Wind Direction & Speed: North at 10 MPH

Tide Stage: High at 8 AM and Low around 3 PM

Water Clarity: Lower than it has been

Water Conditions: The north wind stirs the lagoon some with a lioght chop.

General Observations:

Today is space rocket launch day.  There is a huge rocket going up this AM at 10:30 with a main thruster and 2 side boosters.  Then tonight at 8:30 there is another.  I'll try and catch them on film!  My buddy from the neighborhood is also playing at No Name Bar tonight so we'll see how all that works!  It's like the end of summer camp dance/talent show for the neighborhood.  Should be a hoot.  I cleaned my bathroom in case I procure any visitors>  =)

Lagoon Living Tip for the Day:

Install native plants along your shoreline.

Native vegetation helps prevent erosion, filters runoff, and provides habitat for wildlife. Plus, they’re adapted to Florida’s climate, so they require less maintenance.

🎣 Fishing Activity & Wildlife Sightings

All aerospace this AM. I threw the cast net 7 times and didn't catch anything.  Also had a few lines in the water with no success.

Featured Organization: Indian River Lagoon National Estuary Program

The Indian River Lagoon National Estuary Program (IRLNEP) is a key organization focused on research, conservation, and community engagement across the lagoon. 🏡 Sebastian & Vero Beach Real Estate Suggestion of The Day

Pay attention to easements on the property.

Easements can give others legal access to part of your land—like utility companies or neighbors. This can affect privacy, future improvements, and even property value, so always review the survey carefully.
